these are just a few insights we got from your replies (thx again!). what you shared is already helping us make the calculator better. the goal is simple: take some of the guesswork out of pricing projects and give you more clarity and guidance

then there are client budgets… which vary a lot and are usually pretty inaccessible. some pay €500 or €5,000 or even €10000 for a logo and if it’s not clear what makes the difference, it becomes even harder to set the right rate for your projects.

and let's not even get started with all the undercutting and free work done by other creatives making it even harder to ask for a fair rate

from our own experience (and what others have shared), the industry is pretty intransparent, especially when it comes to project budgets. without clear standards, it’s hard to feel confident about pricing... even with years of experience. (been there, and still are sometimes)

thanks to everyone who took part in our survey on project pricing 🫶. here’s what stood out to us: 61% freelancers have 4+ years of experience… but only 35% feel confident about their rates. how is that possible?

omg i could write you a whole thesis about my experience on threads when we talked about pricing! we got bullied on there so bad for talking about how much we charge for websites haha. you are not alone and that price is fair and even on the cheaper end imo!

preach, i can’t deal with some of the bloated apps out there. fb, google, notion it’s all so bloated and complex. even the support topics are just linked to more support topics and you end up going in circles. it’s all become impossible to manage.

yes people only see the final product and when it's done really well it can look effortless, meaning people think it didn't take any effort when it is actually the opposite! i think the thing that always gets overlooked is the strategy behind our work. people only judge it off of aesthetics.
