Maybe that would’ve applied much more pressure to other mainstream networks to adopt open standards, given Twitter’s size

on the surface Elon’s purchase of Twitter has made the need for open networks (somewhat) clear to consumers, but I’m not convinced this was net more effective for the movement for open protocols

i like future-proof more than billionaire-proof because it shifts bluesky away from being an anti-twitter

i think successful movements require a positive vision instead of existing solely in opposition to something else. tricky though bc the opposition is currently the value to many people

just watched a video on Obsidian that described it as "future-proof," i.e. it uses open file formats so you can easily migrate to a different note-taking app & you're not locked in. could borrow that to explain bluesky
