HELP! A while ago now I learnt how to create my own paper-based Scratch blocks that looked like this (think it was on an @wearecomputing.bsky.social course!) and I had a lot of fun with them! I want to create some more, but can't work out how I did it... any suggestions #TeamCompSci?
13.03.2025 20:19 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0In 2016, a working group commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE, 2016) discovered that the excessive intensity, extent and regularity of marking was adversely impacting teachersβ wellbeing and hindering their capacity to strategise, organise and execute exceptional lessons. Marking had taken over our non-classroom working time, posing a threat to our health and, paradoxically, not having a βpositive impact on pupilsβ progressβ (DfE, 2016 p. 6). To some extent, one could argue that there were instances when we lost focus on the intended purpose of marking. Instead of serving as a tool to advance and enhance studentsβ learning, it had transformed into a superficial practice merely showcasing teacher engagement with the work.
Teachers are drowning in marking, but is it really helping students? Research shows excessive marking may hurt teacher wellbeing without improving progress.

Tonight Iβm reminded of this old idea I often shared on Twitter.
An app like this isnβt going to change your life, but the educators you meet here will.
Grateful to have a space like this open again.
