The worst part about this argument is that they got the Fed to pass a law enforcing slavery (requiring repatriation of escaped slaves) and the real dealbreaker that caused the war was that non-slaving states mostly refused to obey, because STATE’S RIGHTS

The Confederates always used "state's rights" when it was convenient and the feds to control the states when it wasn't.

We are still fighting the confederates...they weren't punished well enough and they never went away.
