I think when it comes to shipping or fictional romance in general you have to free yourself from the shackles of thinking it should always end in a loving marriage. sometimes they have earth shattering sex and then don't talk about it or speak to each other for 10 years and that's AWESOME!!!

I think people misunderstand that IT IS OKAY if a book makes you UNCOMFORTABLE, sometimes that is the author's intent, but what YOU DO with those feelings as the reader is YOUR responsibility, not an author's, and which is why using that discomfort as a crux to mortality police makes you a dick

it can be validating to see that the way you read a piece of media is the way it was intended. but it is absolutely not necessary!! you can nurture an idea and enjoy it yourself, find like-minded fans if you want, and it won't mean any less than if it were canon.

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

sometimes it feels like such a shame not to be able to express to the creator that i really liked a certain thing they made, but it's also strangely peaceful not to see a deluge of random other peoples' opinions under every piece of media i encounter

been doing more non-social media browsing lately (indie web, standalone creative project sites,etc.) and the hardest thing to get used to is that there's no like/comment/mechanism for feedback on a lot of these sites. you just see something, enjoy it, maybe show it to a friend, and move on.
