I, cleverly, moved from Northern Ireland to England years ago, so when it came to clearing out my parents' house these decisions were a lot easier. (Still ended up with a pallet full of nonsense. Possibly including a slide rule!)

My parents were "old" when I was at big school, (ie in their fifties, which was old in the 1980s), and kids being what they are, they made a thing of it. I worried about them for *decades* before anything bad happened....
