It definitely is!! But the kidlit community is awesome and supportive. (Are you in 12 x 12 by any chance?)

You might want to query the “strongest” or most marketable MS (critique partners or paid critiques can help rank them). That said, most PB agents want to rep an author, not just a project, so if one likes the MS you query, they’ll prob ask to see your other polished MSS before offering rep!

The author, bespectacled and with completely untended, pulled-back hair, holding up a brand-new Storystorm 2025 Idea Journal, looking optimistic.

And this arrived just in time, this afternoon. Here’s to starting the new year off right!

I definitely had some setbacks and blows to my #kidlit confidence over the past year (e.g. a couple of rejections that really stung). But I also co-founded an amazing new async critique group, and between them and certain national events, I’m inspired to - and know I need to - keep writing!!

I’m so proud of this family we’ve made
And the light from these kids never fades
But these days long and lazy
Have them going stir-crazy…
