Contrast that tempo with this performance by Irina Kulikova (one of my favorite guitarists, btw) that, while breathtakingly fast and accurate, is a little too fast, imo. Many guitarists choose this tempo, but I prefer the slower version.

The 3rd movement of “La Catedral” by Augustin Barrios Mangore is often played way too fast (in my opinion) by classical guitarists, as if it’s a race. Yet, it is marked “Allegro Solemne.”

This performance by Tariq Harb reveals subtleties in the piece that I feel faster tempos tend to obscure.

Forgive the pun, but this seems a little over the top for Christmas. 😂
