Thank you for that. If there’s one good aspect to my taking an interest in your politics, it’s been making some small connection to good people from places I’ve heard and read about so often. I will always have that now.

You know, someone in the USA asked me once why I didn’t warn them about the Capitol. I laughed it off and then realised they were being serious. Life can be strange.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

These are people Kristi Noem describes as being highly trained and gifted.

Clearly her standards are significantly lower than most.

I am hoping to see a very good result this year. I will celebrate as though it were my country.

I cannot express how their actions make me feel. I don’t have the words. I don’t know if there even are words that could do it.

There is so much hurt in this world and they revel in adding more. I don’t know the victims and I’m not American but it affects me so deeply, makes me tear up.

I would also not rule out some of them bragging about it. It’s who they are. They will want the recognition. They will talk to some people at least.

I hope so. So much. There has to be a reckoning.

I want to be woken up. I’ll put the kettle on and enjoy a nice mug of tea.

I couldn’t agree more.

I don’t believe that most Australians want to be aligned with that, no matter how much our politicians fawn over him.

I keep seeing reasons to love Maryland.

I’m with you. My best years are behind me and my son is grown up and independent. I’m good to go.

I don’t fancy living in this world. If we can’t change it, I’d prefer to go out trying.

I don’t want to offend football (soccer) fans (I am one myself) but many are known to be rather… keen (I won’t say fanatical).

I can’t see a boycott, even if they hadn’t already purchased their tickets, but it would be a very effective statement.

And that damn FIFA peace prize. What a farce.

Watching your good people going out at the risk of harm, I see every reason to still be proud of your country.

I’m far away but I choke up. It’s not American politics for me. It’s good versus evil. As dramatic as that sounds, it’s how I see it, and how I feel it.

I suspect that Starmer demanding anything from Trump is no more likely than Trump indulging him.

It’s ridiculous that they think they’re above the law.

It’s beyond ridiculous that they actually are.

Oh, yes, same here. It’s condescending in my opinion.

And, in a similar vein, “Oh, my sweet summer child” is basically passive aggressive in my book, and overused, making it worse somehow.

I think I may just be growing into a cantankerous old man well ahead of time. 🤣

It’s so good to see. I am not American and I’ve never even been there, but I feel this deeply.

When you see the endless straight-faced, brazen lying, the obvious corruption, it can feel like there’s little hope.

Then you see this and your heart lifts, because you’re not alone, people are active.

The scope of this administration’s corruption and the scale of depravity of him and his ilk are such that, even far away at the bottom of the world, watching these good people I don’t know walking past makes me emotional.

Maybe I’m tired, but it feels like the Rohirrim arriving, bringing hope.

The difference in their deportment from that of the thugs in the ICE videos we’ve been seeing is striking. These guys are professionals.

Ever play Hollow Knight or Hollow Knight: Silksong?

Ever since I discovered Hollow Knight, a good few years after its release, I have no real interest in any other game. It makes me feel so much. A sense of wonder. Like a child again.

Silksong less so. It’s a bit of a tough grind, but I like it.
