i'm particularly looking forward to more shared learning with CMS's African Christianity cohort this year. At CMS we're trialling a new, shared approach to teaching and learning meaning we're more cross-contextual and hopefully not isolated, while still being specialist!

this week's task: refine the content for first term's "Church History in Asia" module on the CMS Asian Christianity MA! last year we looked at Christianity and nationalism in Korea, mission and empire in India and the Philippines, and minority status of Christians in Burma.

a very productive day spent reviewing my student's final draft of the dissertation and now a little time preparing for tomorrow's Open Evening for the Asian Christianity MA! if you've ever considered further study and are interested in cross-cultural mission, places and bursaries still available!

utterly depressing and deeply concerning from Kier Starmer, but also unsurprising. how fitting it is to be attending our Acts 11 project seminar with Prof Esther Mombo on migration and the meaningful role that African migrants play in shaping and revitalising Christianity in the UK today!

qualitative research is all fun and games until you have to transcribe interviews and listen to your own voice over and over again 🫠

please share and message! i'm looking to speak to minority Christians about their sense of belonging, identity, and place w/in Scotland. as a Christian from a minority background myself, it's a topic of personal interest too. interviews will be 1-1.5h, and can be in person in Edinburgh or online.

the nurse who gave me my travel vaccines for Brazil (Yale-Edinburgh 2025 here I come!) was a Christian so we got to talking, and now I have a potential interviewee for my current research on minority Christians and Scottish identity! lots of reasons to get vaccinated folks! ✌️

i've had a nice time being off social media but the powers that be (capitalism™️the job™️etc. ) have forced me back. if you followed me on twitter you know to expect professional tweets that collide violently with random posts about how hard academia is!! im back!!
