Oh man I had to have this done when I was in high school. Not touching/blowing my nose was brutal! Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Time for my regularly scheduled reminder for K-pop fandom circles that, when it turns out someone is a monster and everyone suddenly goes "oh I've always hated that guy he's an ugly talentless loser", what you're doing is reinforcing the idea that beautiful talented people can't be monsters.

Something I have to reiterate is that you are being straight up lied to about trans people and our healthcare on an unfathomable scale, this instance reporting is already being torn to shreds by other people commenting, but the frequency of this kind of reporting is astonishing, it's neverending.

There's a post over on Twitter that I've been laughing to myself about. Some right-wing guy is celebrating that a school took down "All-Gender" bathroom signs and replaced them with "Single Occupancy Restroom" signs. And like... it's the same thing, man. You're celebrating a pointless relabeling.

Update November 22. We’ve updated this article after realising we contributed to a perfect storm of misunderstanding around a recent change in the wording and placement of Gmail’s smart features. The settings themselves aren’t new, but the way Google recently rewrote and surfaced them led a lot of people (including us) to believe Gmail content might be used to train Google’s AI models, and that users were being opted in automatically. After taking a closer look at Google’s documentation and reviewing other reporting, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Gmail does scan email content to power its own β€œsmart features,” such as spam filtering, categorisation, and writing suggestions. But this is part of how Gmail normally works and isn’t the same as training Google’s generative AI models. Google also maintains that these feature settings are opt-in rather than opt-out, although users’ experiences seem to vary depending on when and how the new wording appeared.

It’s easy to see where the confusion came from. Google’s updated language around β€œsmart features” is vague, and the term β€œsmart” often implies AIβ€”especially at a time when Gemini is being integrated into other parts of Google’s products. When the new wording started appearing for some users without much explanation, many assumed it signalled a broader shift.

We’ve revised this article to reflect what we can confirm from Google’s documentation, as it’s always been our aim to give readers accurate, helpful guidance.

A screenshot with a photograph of a light brown cat whose smooshed face has the effect of making him look grumpy. In the blurry distance is a drawing of this same cat, with a sadder expression.

Under the photo, text reads: "Meet Gary, the cat who ended a friendship and cost $25,000 in legal fees"

A calligraphic "I" (the logo of the Philadelphia Inquirer) is in the bottom right corner of the image.

Amazing, no notes, I do not desire to learn anything else about this story, for it would only detract from the perfection on this headline.

maybe unpopular take but parasocial relationships don’t apply only to fans, when you post hate about someone by assuming shit you really have no way of knowing if it’s true or not, that’s also delusion of intimacy

THIS is what power looks like. Starbucks baristas are standing tall, with their shoulders back and their heads high, and they’re showing the world what it looks like to demand a fair contract.
