I was going to come on here and talk about how wonderful starfleet academy continues to be (a sam-focused episode right after a jay-den one, my two favourites!) but then I continued to the newest episode and now I have to recover from all that 😮‍💨

since i finished season 1 of tos yesterday, i decided to switch to watching starfleet academy while working today and it is delightful! i am enjoying it so much.

i am very tempted to go back now and listen to all of WWW again but i am very star trek brained at the moment so it will probably wait

and also (**spoilery for anyone who hasn't listened through all of the wizard, the witch and the wild one **) listening to steel's speech to little child suvi about her parents dying as heroes after having listening to all of book one, arghhh😠💢!

i've been listening to the worlds beyond number children's adventure for the first time this month and it's so been fun, emotional, and gorgeous and it is just such a cool, creative way to do character creation

me watching tos is equal parts me being annoyed at how women are written, me being like "oh, i understand those og k/s shippers so much", and me just loving weird sci-fi shenanigans

really this episode reminded me of a doctor who episode. obviously because of the time travel but also meeting a mysterious person in the past who had more knowledge or insight of the future than they should

i thought edith was an interesting character too, it would've been fun to have her somehow show up again!

i got so annoyed when i realized they were going to kill the woman in this episode that i turned it off and come back for two days. please you can have a woman appear to do more than kiss kirk and die!

super messed up that having the supposedly less emotional character experience strong emotions is extra impactful

i deleted a bunch of apps off my phone because i needed a break but might re-download bluesky just to give live updates of my watch of a sixty year old show lol

it was bound to happen eventually, i've watched the 2009 movie more times than i can count (including today lol) and told myself every time i'd go back and watch all the way through tos (i'd watched about halfway through season 1 before) and it finally got me

and you'd think, oh i watched 4 episodes of heated rivalry in one day, it must be that!
no, i paused on that because i felt like i was rushing it and switched to the other thing i'd just started watching recently: star trek tos.

i did that thing again where i get into something during my period and end up hyperfixated on it (must be a hormone thing)

and the dumpster battle begins!! i'm so hyped and frustrated that i'll have to wait until i pick up the next volume to read more!
