I understand that the Olympics take precedent over the NBA All-Star Game for NBC and that's why the ASG is on at 5 today. But if you want the All-Star Game to matter and feel important to people, not putting it on in primetime sends literally the opposite message.

The Olympics rule because I love waking up and sports already being on. Like I'm going to miss having something cool to watch at 8 AM everyday.

This was the first All-Star competition to feature both NBA and WNBA players. The NBA tried to turn 2Ball into their version of the NFL's "Punt, Pass, and Kick" competition, but as a TV product, it kinda flopped because it mostly just involved players taking midrange shots.

So here's a blast from the past. In 1998, the NBA just outright cancelled the Slam Dunk Contest because of how bad it had gotten, and in its place came something called "NBA 2Ball" - which was a shooting competition involving NBA and WNBA players.

But why does it have to live up to it or be like super marketable every single time? It could be Rhyne Howard vs Klay Thompson or something and it'd be fun 🤷‍♂️
