Geoff Barton to lead inclusion task force
Former heads’ leader tells Tes the group will look at how funding for SEND is used, the role of special schools and the accountability system
A really interesting development. @realgeoffbarton.bsky.social to lead a new taskforce on inclusion which will make recommendations in the autumn as the govt is expected to announce key SEND reforms. www.tes.com/magazine/new...

Britain isn't broken
We have our problems but the doomerism is getting out of hand
New post just out:
"Britain isn't broken"
We have our problems but the doomerism is getting out of hand.
I look at the real picture on crime, migration, social cohesion and the economy - rather than the dsyoptian fantasies of the radical right.

I was too busy indecorously sniffing your pleasantly perfumed neck 🤣. An opportunity missed. Next time we will make up for it.

To paraphrase Stewart Lee - if it happens that Farage gets elected we’ll all end up lying in a shat bed that most of us had nothing to do with soiling. A bed that’s still soiled since the last time the Reformers/Brexiteers shat it. Here’s hoping people see sense.

Big pay days and top of the polls: Nigel Farage’s first year as an MP
In year since Reform party leader was elected at eighth attempt he has been largely absent from Commons votes and very present in the media
Once again the story of the emperor’s new clothes comes to mind. It’s obvious he and his cronies haven’t got a stitch on integrity wise yet people still think he is bedecked in the splendid robes of change….

At the end of this single lane track is a dead end and a dog poo bin (which you can just see). 60mph seems sensible.

Congratulations to all from our sector receiving honours. It is great to see any and all efforts to restore our profession to a respected and valued pillar in both individual children and families lives but also the significant contribution to our wider collective benefit. 👏👏

Calm Leadership Lesson: Jim Rohn once said: The challenge of leadership is to
🗣️ be strong, but not rude;
🗣️ be kind, but not weak;
🗣️ be bold, but not a bully;
🗣️ be thoughtful, but not lazy;
🗣️ be humble, but not timid;
🗣️ be proud, but not arrogant;
🗣️ have humour, but without folly.

This encapsulates my current unease. Do what’s right & possible rather than always bowing to electoral strategy. We need to lift children out of poverty. We also need to incentivise people from all socioeconomic groups to have families if we want to combat our falling school roll problem.

Chuffed to be @samanthajbooth.bsky.social for the Press Awards tonight
It’s *very rare* specialist publications even get nominated for these awards, so a huge achievement
Sam has been nominated for her unrivalled and phenomenal reporting into the SEND crisis.
Super proud 🙌

This. Just like Grayson Perry’s “Comfort Blanket” this captures perfectly what immigration means to the UK. Don’t fight reform on their own patch. Shine a light on their lack of health policy, education policy, or social care policy. That’s where their contempt for ordinary people will shine through
