For me I've entered his work from the standpoint of him being the GOAT writer or thereabouts so I prefer to read and then work out what other people have said or interpreted of that makes sense... like I'll be a bit confused about a part but work with it anyway

Seems dramatic to say seeing as I'm only 21 but I really do think it'll remain one of the best books I'll ever read for the rest of my life. Another one in that vein is Stoner by John Williams, dunno if you'll have come across it, I got the rec from tiktok lol

Some of these I just had a good time with (mostly the lower down ones) and some have stuck with me more and even informed my taste in direction and style in terms of atmosphere and characterisation and narrative
