Some test images, from February 2014, of a Spirit class variant. I was alpha testing Moskito renderer by Cebas. These rendered under a minute. (in 2014, on a single mid range GPU.) As I came from "buckets" this was very impressive to me. :)

Thank you! :) I was indeed Googling "Shape Whale" for a second to find out if it was a certain ship. Most of the time a ship from some series or in some universe is unknown to me, and then I'm slightly in panic that it might look too much like that. Phew! :)

Lunary Serenity is a hybrid between a Yacht and a Starship. Render and model from 2007.
*I'm currently working on a blog/website with a gallery of old and new work, a bio and some information about HSY both in and outside of the or a universe. (Much required for average non Sci-Fi person.) 😀

From 2009, an UESPA era station. (unfinished)

Yeah, I'm 50/50. :) Modern Ships have the same problem (or feature if you like) :D Parameters are standardized but HMI is not. I assume it is difficult to do so with constant evolution.

Love it! :)
It would be great if Starfleet could standardize this a little, so that everybody can stay sane. 🤣

It is, if both nacelles are oriented like TNG did. In the Vesta MSD the nacelle looks attached/flipped, that is confusing. I think this already proven by people not being able to determine if it is a quad nacelle ship or just a characteristic of the MSD layout. Still: concept filler, grain of salt 😀

I agree, in concept art this could also be a fast way to fill empty space. Then we come around and read too much into it. :)
Compression on the core is quite high with 2 nacelles, with 4 the compression would drop below a replenishment threshold required to get correct plasma cycles. I think...😀🤷♂️

This month the Merian class will be 15 years old. I'm very confused as I started on it in 2009, but I assume that I then gave priority to Vesta and XCV, to finish the Merian in January 2011. Also one of the latest renders of it, (Strickland variant) from 2024.

Yes, or it is a way of presenting the left nacelle. :) If it is a quad setup, a crime has been commited. :P

Every time my follower count reaches a milestone, some Ferengi trader sends me the same amount of Self-Sealing Stem Bolts, I assume as a cruel joke, just for the shipping fee. (Who else would use 2 containers...)
2131 SSSB's... 🙂 A workbee uses 6. (Six!)
Either way, thank you for the follow! :)

*I'm still here but super busy with anything but Science Fiction... argh! :)
For 2026 getting structure and improving work/hobby/life balance is going to be the main goal.
Meanwhile, here is a slightly barebone image of the USS Carver.

Low Domain Quantum Slipstream. (I wanted to go with LDS first...) A slower less invasive form of Quantum Slipstream. I needed a story mechanism that would allow me to keep these short transit times over 10.5 Light Years. At Warp cruising speeds, it takes too long to commute. :)

Tiny departure schedule for the dock.
(Basically the daily commuting runabout (Pleiades) and some weekly supply/cargo/material shipments by Starfleet.)
Still all work in progress but slowly creeping towards a completed dock.

Inspection of Venetia Starlight.
(Modeled in 2008 but recent renders.)
A star yacht with forward nacelles. Some ships in this class are outfitted with roll out solar sails for a calm (but slow) journey.

My design for an RC Crawler back in 2009 vs a DARPA concept vehicle in 2022. :) Convergent evolution. (Or so I hope. :D)

I keep chipping away at a new (friendlier and smaller) habitat for the shipyard. Made some new doors today.

(2/2) I know it looks almost the same, but the 22 version has slots for the pylons and mounting points on the nacelles on the top and bottom, that way it is not just stuck on/in the pylon/hull but really slots in, and all variations would become "valid". That was super important to me. :)

In a way yes! The Curie (from the books) in my mind always had this config. The large Sato side pods would be different/smaller on the Curie. The version on the schematic was a proper conversion I did in 2022 for Picard. (unused) In 2012 I did this mock up: (1/2)

Very cool! :) I like smaller ships, they are more manageable, and in a way just more logical.

If not me, you can always ask one of the many talented modelers on here. :) I first need to finish a shipyard. (Working on it!) :)
