This is a conversation somebody had with their AI bot - and damn if it doesn't sound like something straight out of an Albert Camus novel.

Help me pick a conference walk out song. Here's what i'm considering:

Counting Crows - Mr Jones
Tay Tay - Anti-Hero
SR71 - politically correct
Cameron Whitcomb - Bad Apple
NOFX - idiots are taking over
Rev Theory - hell yeah
Shinedown - sound of madness

What comes after Generation Alpha? we need a new name - because Gen Beta sounds like something your drunk political uncle rants about on Thanksgiving.

Getting mentioned in AI drives sales - but ranking #1 drives OKRs. That's the biggest problem in the industry right now.

To all the dudes on here defending ICE. You're on the wrong app. If you want to lick boots you should try Feet Finder or Fetlife.

It's not that hard to figure out.

State Department Threatens UK Over Grok Investigation, Because Only The US Is Allowed To Ban Foreign Apps So let me get this straight. Men, am I the only one who tries to coordinate the smells of my soap, shampoo, deodorant, and cologne? I feel like a lot of guys go out into the world smelling like a middle school lockerroom and a bed bath and beyond got into a fight.

With heads up displays being popular in cars now, there's an entire market for non-polarized sunglasses popping up that I don't think is adequately filled.

Hmm i'm not sure. i'm assuming you're in the US? and your machine meets the requirements for latest chrome version?

If it shows a version there, it should work. unless your're on a corporate version of chrome and the company has some weird settings set.

This is why google moved to passage embedding and passage_bert

but yes, i'm seeing the majority of reddit/facebook/twitter SEOs don't have a basic understanding of semantic relevance.

me: "please analyze this code and give me suggestions for how to solve this issue.... do NOT code it, just give me your solutions."

AI..... spends 10 minutes coding a full app.

Grrrrrr

Our mental model of salience is still based on keyword density - and that's wrong. my stance is that our industry needs to understand and adapt to measuring semantic relevance - otherwise we're only focusing on literally half the ranking equation.

08.01.2026 17:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

Search engines don't know what is "quality" so they fake it with pagerank, navboost, clicks, and other metrics (like navigational searches) and a lot of machine learning.

Salience (semantic relevance) is super overlooked in the industry, and the easiest for us to control.

08.01.2026 17:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

all search engines use the same ranking formula:

Rank = S + wQ.

Where S = length normalized salience of the query to the document
w = weight modifier
Q = quality

All of the "factors" we talk about influence one of these. SEOs focus too much on Pagerank - but that's only one part of Q here.

Congress having a vote to decide whether or not they want to do their job as defined by the constitution is.... something.

Learning how to make chrome extensions. Also learning how to tap into chrome's built in gemini nano model from within the extension. Working on something cool, stay tuned.

It's amazing how much money mortgage interest really is. Just did the math using my lender's calculator. If i pay an extra $100/month ($30k over the life of the loan) It'll save me $42k in interest over that timeframe.

It's insane to think of how much interest a home owner pays
