Why Australia hasn't adopted NZ's solution to wood smoke pollution A new generation of low-emission wood heaters that produce a fraction of the particulate pollution of current models could save lives by improving air quality, researchers say.

Well how about these low emission stoves? An inefficient wood burner is more polluting than a car, but there are many more cars than wood burners. I don’t have the reports to hand but have read estimates of 800 deaths per yr to wood smoke and 8000 per yr to transport emissions. In Australia.

I think campaigning against tailpipe emissions would save more lives to be honest. They pollute and harm lives all year round.

Changing to low emission wood burners is not a big ask though. All for that.

As long as politicians accept freebies from gambling companies to sporting events, I’m guessing it will be difficult to get them to vote against gambling adds.

The Gaza Strip has been rendered nothing short of an open air concentration camp. The only difference is that they are dropping American ordnance instead of zyklon B.

UN expert urges states to cut Israel trade ties over 'apocalyptic' Gaza situation A U.N. expert on Thursday called on states to impose an arms embargo and cut off trade and financial ties with Israel, which she alleged is waging a "genocidal campaign" in Gaza.

Big Gas are only following the rules. Should you not target the ailment, rather than one symptom. Why are we not asking why federal and state governments are taking the piss?

How is it legal for federal MPs to accept sports tickets and hospitality at events like the Melbourne Cup and AFL GF from gambling companies?
They get more than $200K a year! They can buy their own tickets.

Mimosa. Fun fact - Napoleon’s β€˜partner’, Josephine, loved planting Australian trees, particularly golden wattles at Malmaison. This popularised the trees and now they are the scourge of Spain and Portugal. On Tuesday I saw them all along train line from CDG airport in to Paris.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Israel's attack on Palestine and Iran

And

America's invasion of Iran

Are ALL violations of the UN Charter.

Australia needs off shore wind, and here’s what it looks like. On the horizon is Seagreen, a 1GW fixed foundation wind farm. Thousands of construction jobs, hundreds on going. Dolphin population booming and whales still returning. Turbines are visible on a perfect day but only as tiny specks.

In UK to β€˜trump’ is to expel wind from your anus.

You can see the turbines on a perfect visibility day, like today. But zooming in on the photos doesn’t show them up. They don’t interfere with a beautiful view from a 50m high cliff top.

Here’s reality. Seagreen wind farm, Scotland. This is what a 1GW+ wind farm looks like. Thousands of construction jobs, hundreds ongoing. Dolphin population booming.
If you can’t see it, that’s the point.

Will put lateral pressure on the sides and they bow outwards. Easy fix.

Looks great. I built one exactly like this for a primary school. The slats worked well, leaving plenty of room for the slats to slide so students could use it. One improvement which I think yours will need - is a cross bar above the front edge. You’ll find that as you fill the bays up, the compost

Yes it is, and it’s a good development. Sorry I wasn’t trying to be negative.

Just disappointed that they are building more gas when firmed renewables are cheaper and quicker to build.

Not so impressive really, they are 48% gas and building another 2 gas plants, and relying on a heavy fuel generator for back up.

More impressed by Scotland first and then England last year coming off coal.

Ah, yes! That’s exactly what we need, because…. those PV panels can be bought at the equivalent of Bunnings and just plugged into any old socket. No sparky required.
Our standards don’t allow that and that’s what we need to change. Same goes for batteries of 2KW. Untapped potential there.

Nothing wrong with investing in submarines, like it or not Australia is vulnerable and requires deterrents. AUKUS is literally the worst possible option. Anti submarine warfare has been escalating for decades. Putting all your extremely expensive eggs in a few v large baskets is very foolish.
