My kid is diagnosed. I'm still diagnosed with "hyper mobility syndrome" and several other things that only make sense in the context of the genetic disorder my offspring got from me. It's very tiring.

Totally agree! Church's should be taxed. However, I think it should also be mentioned that voters wanted tax dollars for things like that, and the government disagreed, letting food go bad rather than give it out. The founders had a catch phrase about that behavior.

It's a thing. There's some that will call it a shrug and some will argue about the proper definition of shrug, and I've seen at least one call it a bed sweater, because you can sleep in it without it bunching up.

Very large shawl, that doesn't entirely fit in the frame. The shawl is created using 7 colors in 7 wedges, with the stripe pattern shifting by one layer each wedge the first wedge. Unfortunately, I'd couldn't take a picture with all of it visible, as I would need a bigger house and 2 more sets of blocking mats, so it's folded with a wedge and a half on top, each side, and one wrong side wedge in the middle, where several woven in ends can be seen. The colors are silver, a heathered cool redish color, pink, deep purple leaning towards red, dark grey, lavender, and black.

A few years ago I knit this very large garter stitch shawl. It was called shifting chevrons, by Stephen West I think. It's my only shawl designed by him. I washed it this morning after bringing it out for the cooler weather.

It's not really my skill set, but I really hope someone is making art work in the style of medieval illuminations, but instead of knights fighting snails and rabbits, or running from them, or surrendering after defeat, it's inflatable costumes of delightful characters.

This hit me in the x-files nostalgia. That suit is very Dana Scully.

I too have returned to baking. There's a whole drama about how we were getting the almost decent store bought bread, but now there's more competition. I don't have hand woven towels. I do have hand knit towels, but that's not as good for bread proofing.

Two fresh baked loaves of bread, viewed horizontally, one above the other. The upper loaf is on a more oval shaped cooling rack. There's a beige counter behind the loaves. The loaves were formed, and baked without a pan, creating a more irregular shape. Each loaf was split across the top to create a nice line when rising in the oven, though some splitting on the sides occurred where the loaves were folded.

I don't know how more clearly they can say it. When they say "democrats want to give healthcare to illegal immigrants" they are saying "you are so much of a bigot we expect you to destroy your own healthcare costs and insurance premiums.". Your hate is expensive.

I recently made the Frankenstein monster and bride Gnomes in my picture. I posted about it if you want more information.

How is it violent rhetoric to call a fascist a fascist, but not to call everyone but if mild opposition to fascism terrorists and include the threat of government harassment and imprisonment (something only a fascist would do)?

I don't know that I have a favorite, but almost started laughing hysterically when I had a new therapist do the movie therapist mannerisms. Practiced concerned and interested look, leaning over a legal note pad, putting the pen to the lips.

It's full of whimsy, and knitting these guys is addicting. The yarn is all cascade 220, fingering weight.

I didn't use a pattern for either of them. I used a construction method often used by Sarah Schira, with some playing around for the top shaping of both gnomes. If you get her book The Gnomes of Grimblewood, you should be able to figure it out after a couple gnomes. I highly recommend this book

Side view of hand-knit Frankenstein's monster gnome. The top portion is a dark green, with a flat round top, creating a very cylindrical head. There's a bright green section representing the head, with silver bracket shapes knit with fair isle knitting. There's a large round nose in the bright green, and under the nose is a beard made with the same dark green as the top of the head. The body is made out of a lighter grey-green color, with black feet.

Frankenstein's monster gnome and the bride gnome together. Both hand knit. The monster is on the left and the bride is on the right. Both gnomes are about the same height. The monster has a flat dark green cylindrical shape in top, and the bride has a charcoal colored conical shape, with white streaks in chain stitching barely visible on both sides. They both have bright green noses, with the monster having a band of the same bright green for the lower part of the head. There are also silver brackets knit into the transition of dark green to bright green using fair isle knitting. The monster's body is knit in a light grey-green, and the bride's is white, with grey chain stitching in lines to represent the flowing gown. Both have I-cord arms, that match the body color, except for the lower part, in the bright green, to represent the hands. The monster has black shoes, also hand knit, but the bride has no visible feet.

Guess who's finished! Look everyone, the monster and the bride. I'm so happy about them, though not unaware that the monster kinda looks like a green penguin. The silver brackets weren't meant to look like eyes, but they do. Not sure it can be helped. Gotta figure out neck bolts

I still haven't figured out why the new anti-vax appeal is to ask for more shots. Let's triple the MMR Injections because someone who can't say acetaminophen said so.

Occasionally a teacher would tell us to never take work home with us as grownups. I asked why they assigned homework. They usually gave a pitiful shrug. I didn't go to a school that provided a free period and study hall.

A hand knit gnome knit in the style of the 30s Bride of Frankenstein. The top is a conical grey with a small amount of white showing on the top right. The bottom is knit in white, with grey details to give reference to the flowing shrowd or gown worn in the classic film. The nose and hands are bright green. Background is a wood grain surface with a blank canvas behind the gnome.

I promised you all a bride of Frankenstein gnome, and here's the proof I've been working on it. Also, tomorrow I should have pictures of the monster. Because the Bride demands a companion. Here's some pics.

Schira's gnomes. If anyone needs some whimsy her book The Gnomes of Grimblewood is great. She also has a lot on ravelry that isn't in the book. I'm going to do the October knit a long.

Decided on a whim to knit a gnome today representing the bride of Frankenstein. No pictures yet, as it's not finished. I have most of it done, but it's got to be washed and blocked, and I have to make the rice bag to weigh it down when it's finished up. I just winged it based on the way Sarah

Hand knit vest made in fluffy yarn laid out on a blocking mat with a grid. The yarn is a bright fuchsia. Two strips of knit fabric are visible in the top left, to be sewn in later as a zipper facing. Lower left corner has a small swatch for a different project visible in bright pink and pea green.

So, I've been working on a pink a long and am fairly close to finished. The pattern is Cocoknits Flynn, to which I added a lot of hip shaping. I made a couple of zipper facings in a much tighter gauge to sew in later. Yarn is two strands of bubbly boucle from the place I am irritated with.

I love these little gnomes. I actually did not use one of Sarah's gnomes for the one in my picture, and knit another one using her style because I felt like I missed out on the dopamine with the first 1.

Also the increase or decrease method sometimes twists a stitch, which adds a lot of resistance, almost acting like a knit.

My guess is there's enough friction to hold the stitches together. This is extremely common in non super wash wool, but in other fibers that have been holding together for a while actually have to be convinced to run. Makes mending easier.
