We got so lucky that we got to see two episode tapings of that series. They're all so good!

Anyways... Feel free to take my crystallization animation image and use it as you see fit! Hope you learned something about a cool technique. If you make anything with this inspiration, sent it my way.

I made these crystals in particular with a shot at high velocity but with high air density. A sub emitter leaves the crystal trails.

A second particular comp uses that as a sprite and scatters them around to fill space.

A third comp animates from white to black over time. Echo combines to a png.

This technique used to be used more in game development where memory sizes were critical.

As long as you have a flat color and the wipe always grows, you can stack them. This saves space over a unique image file every frame (with slight overhead) and is very flexible!

To get the icy SSS look, I CC composite the original texture over-top, then adjust levels to give the impression that the older areas are getting darker.

To animate the transition, It's just the threshold effect clipping only the relevant pixels.

Because 8 Bit images contain 256 colors per channel, you can save an 8.5second animation within a single png! (at 30fps) Honestly that's really long.

This entire animation is contained within this single image!

Each frame is given a unique grey value and then stacked. It looks like a depth matte but it contains temporal information instead.

Not been on here in a while!!! but wanted to update what I've been up to recently! I've started running a cosplay drawing group in London.

Listen to me. Listen. If you're making images that will only be displayed on screens, YOU HAVE TO LET GO. You can calibrate your screens perfectly, but then 25k people will see it on their shitty $50 monitors or cracked phone and its out of your hands. Don't think of it. Achieve enlightenment.

A quick BTS of the wine transition.

Dominik Ruckli's match size capsule keeps a cube at the right size and position at the center of the wine mesh. Then I boolean them.

You can see a plane showing the tracked footage FOV parented to the surface. I morph between the two cameras!

I started this when the mattress topper I had wasn't supportive enough. Now I do it because it's comfortable!

C4D Tip. If using the Point xpresso node with a primitive object, use a child correction deformer as the object input instead of the primitive. It won't work otherwise.
