I miss that place!

Seeing the sun come up when you’ve got a deadline looming is a dispiriting feeling. I ended one job at 3am once and started another one immediately.

Amazing work created that night by Dan, @badmachinery.com, @emmavieceli.bsky.social, Jade Sarson and Richard Short. I couldn’t have hoped for a better group of people to be trapped in a hotel function room with for 24 hours.

I should reprint a few copies for the anniversary.

It was such an experience. I remember eating breakfast and watching the pattern moving on the carpet!

He also had some very inflammatory things to say about Kendal pizza. So glad we got to meet him.

Just ink and wash. Seth asked me about that ink. Then he told me about a friend of his called Robert Crumb! I think I’ve heard of him. 😁

You spinning round in your chair to face Darwyn Cooke is a memory I’ll never forget. “No, Darwyn. Please tell me what my problem is!”. Iconic.

10 years ago today since I took part in the 24 hour comic challenge at LICAF. Here I am in the early hours of the morning with 24 hours comics kingpin @thingsbydan.co.uk What an experience! I’ll never forget looking up at about 3am to find Kate Beaton, Seth & Darwyn Cooke watching.

RIP Drew Struzan. His posters are a huge part of my childhood. Iconic images and what a range! From Black Sabbath to the Muppets. I really recommend the Art of Drew Struzan book. The anecdotes about the creation of each poster are fascinating.
