It’s so annoying that some characters redesigns are very minor to the point of not even noticing but then other characters like DK are so different they look like they’re from different games.

I haven't been listening or calling in because Bananza didn't do it for me and I don't want to just be a downer on the whole experience. But I guess I should get over it because there's no way Bananza can just be ignored. As much as I hate it it's changed the franchise permanently.

Eh the beat em up combat felt kind of lacking to me but it was still a very enjoyable game (I have also played all the Toads games). It’s just not quite where I would have taken the series, at least not entirely. Maybe with a few tweaks. I would still say my favorite is the Arcade game.

I liked her for her design and her vibe. But I did always want to see them do more with her. 2020 is great but with her depowerd for most of the game she's not as cool as she could be. Also that game just completely ignores like... all the lore from the old games in a way that bothers me.

I feel robbed of an experience that should have been nothing but great joy because Nintendo based devs, despite all their apparent love for the franchise and all the references they crammed in, did not fundamentally understand the appeal of donkey kong games.

But everyone else likes it so fuck me.

Sadly, all the fanservice in the world doesn't make up for a gameplay loop I know I won't enjoy and so many fundamental changes to DK's baseline.

Honestly hearing all this praise from such a DK superfan when it just isn't working for me really stings.
