my first time reading the book, I spent about 10 minutes reading, and re reading that first paragraph. no one warned me that it's the best first paragraph ever written.

Pliny is one of my favorite unreliable narrators. I also love the information flow, the order and the emphasis of it all. It seems random, and honestly I think it's just straight sloppiness; but I enjoy pretending as a reader it's fully intentional.

Ditto. Paolo is peerless when it comes to understanding magic and fantasy in general.

The soundtrack, experimental and daring. I can't believe Disney let that happen.

Yup. Noticed it in Silent Titans... I like the light serif for body text. Reads like a scanned book.

I am free of the shackles of drive-thru-rpg exclusivity and now have an itch page. My books now cost one cent more because round numbers feel more itch to me. eeldip.itch.io

Love that plant. Such great late season blooms with little to no need for care. Plus you know.... WITCHY!

the cucumber taste works surprisingly well. I read about it in Pliny, got some going in the garden, and genuinely enjoy it. makes cheap white wine pretty interesting. excellent with low end vinho verde

Nice mix of perspective and flatness, pleasingly off kilter. Love the hairy arm.

Cincinnati, keeping the same example, is a pretty affordable metro area. A quick Zillow search shows plenty of two bedroom detached single-family homes available for $1500ish. Average starting wages for college graduates apparently $60k a year. That's doable alone. Easy with a roommate.

It's more of a suburban phenomenon, and more closely associated with smaller, regional cities. In New York, LA, SF, it's pretty normal to move back in with your parents. It's a sign of failure in Cincinnati.
