State-level progress in reducing cervical cancer incidence among US young women between the pre- and post-human papillomavirus vaccination eras AbstractBackground. Despite well-documented national declines in cervical cancer incidence among young women following human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine i

“Nationwide, cervical cancer incidence rates declined by 27% (RR = 0.73, 95%CI:0.70 to 0.75) during the vaccination era, from 5.1 to 3.7 per 100,000… Every 10% increase in vaccination rates was associated with an 11.5% (95%CI : -17.2% to -5.4%) reduction in RRs, adjusted for screening rates.”

This morning’s new snow is ridiculous, uncalled for, and if I may say so, personally offensive.

This could be a longer-term public health goal: normalize masking up before that ___ [vacation, graduation, final exams week, visit w higher risk relative, etc]. Lower the burden of disease on ppl's lives. Sadly, I highly doubt this would ever happen at scale.

It amazes me that athletes don't take serious infection precautions - against norovirus, flu, Covid, even regular colds - before the Olympics & similar.

If I dedicated 20-30 years of my life to win in an event decided by 0.01%? I'd be in a biohazard suit for 2 weeks leading up to showtime 😷

This is not the most important thing, but a really good reason to educate your kid in math early is you end up finding pieces of paper with equations written in little girl handwriting, with hearts and cats drawn around them.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Alberto Castañeda Mondragón says his memory was so jumbled after a beating by immigration officers that he initially could not remember he had a daughter and still struggles to recall treasured moments like the night he taught her to dance.

But the violence he endured last month in Minnesota while being detained is seared into his battered brain.

He remembers Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulling him from a friend’s car on Jan. 8 outside a St. Paul shopping center and throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him, then punching him and striking his head with a steel baton. He remembers being dragged into an SUV and taken to a detention facility, where he said he was beaten again.

He also remembers the emergency room and the intense pain from eight skull fractures and five life-threatening brain hemorrhages.

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

More kids have long-covid than asthma, which used to be the #1 chronic illness in kids.

In life, people go to great lengths to give their kids even a slight advantage: SAT classes, sports coaching, Baby Beethoven, etc. What would you do to prevent brain & heart damage in your kid? Vax? Mask? Other?

Tin soldiers and fascists coming.
We're finally on our own
This winter I hear the drumming
Two dead in Minnesota.

Gotta get down to it, soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been gone long ago

What if you knew them and found them dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Vaccine Panel Chair Says Polio and Other Shots Should Be Optional, Rejecting Decades of Science Dr. Kirk Milhoan, a pediatric cardiologist who leads the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, said a person’s right to refuse a vaccine outweighed concerns about illness or death from infectious diseases.

Breaking News: Rejecting decades of science, the chair of the federal panel that recommends vaccines for Americans said that shots against polio and measles — and perhaps all diseases — should be optional. The vaccines are credited with preventing disability and millions of deaths worldwide.

RFK Jr. appointee Kirk Milhoan has just clearly stated, out loud, that he wants to experiment on the people of the United States by seeing what happens as vaccination coverage plummets and infectious diseases spread.
