I wanted the Mariners to get him the offseason they got Robbie Ray. I think the Mariners did, too. And clearly the Blue Jays did because they signed him before Ray signed.

Kevin Gausman can have ace stuff on any given night and it's looking like he has it tonight. Mariners gotta go to work on his pitch count and try to get into Toronto's bullpen where they can do damage.

I mean, there's a guy whose literal job it is to give a thumbs up or thumbs down on potential challenges, so I'd trust their knowledge over whether it's worth using on a really tough call to overturn or save it for another point later in the game.

Alright so the strike zone is very different for Gausman than it is for Miller.

They have a dedicated video person. I'm sure if they thought they could get it overturned, then Dan would have challenged. I think that one would be really hard to overturn.

Pitch count not great. Neither is not taking the lead in a game for the first time this postseason.

But, it's only 1-0. Long way to go.

Spinger's homer wasn't even a mistake. He's just super dangerous A) in the postseason, and B) leading off against the Mariners. He's done that a lot in his career.

That's what this series is gonna be like. Mistakes will be punished. Good pitches will be fouled off. Pitchers will be frustrated. Blue Jays are here for a reason.

To have his career resurrected with Seattle, and to be such a big part of the 2022 playoff team, then traded and go through what he has since, and THEN have a front-row seat to see the M's get to the ALCS without him -- just brutal.
