Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

Itโ€™s not about what this country can or canโ€™t afford.

Itโ€™s about priorities.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) โ€” Alberto Castaรฑeda Mondragรณn says his memory was so jumbled after a beating by immigration officers that he initially could not remember he had a daughter and still struggles to recall treasured moments like the night he taught her to dance.

But the violence he endured last month in Minnesota while being detained is seared into his battered brain.

He remembers Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulling him from a friendโ€™s car on Jan. 8 outside a St. Paul shopping center and throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him, then punching him and striking his head with a steel baton. He remembers being dragged into an SUV and taken to a detention facility, where he said he was beaten again.

He also remembers the emergency room and the intense pain from eight skull fractures and five life-threatening brain hemorrhages.

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man โ€œpurposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.โ€

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldnโ€™t remember he had a daughter.

Heads are going to explode ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Cato Institute just nuked the lie. Immigrants have cut U.S. deficits by $14.5 TRILLION since 1994, slashing the national debt by a third.

All that โ€œimmigrants are bleeding us dryโ€ noise? Absolute bullshit.

Since I'm pretty sure this administration doesn't realize this document exists, it would be worth downloading the 2020 Intelligence Community Assessment on foreign threats to the U.S. elections before it disappears, which includes the following finding:

Minneapolis should press its momentum and demand not only withdrawal but start talking about the need for immediate reparations, loudly, with the total certainty that only winners have. "You have wronged us terribly and must pay recompense" and let them argue the second part.

If you're living somewhere outside the USA, one thing you can do is pressure your leaders to boycott World Cup and Olympic events here.

They are going down the list of amendments now. And the entire ICE action is the most obvious violation of the Fourth Amendment this country has ever seen.

Utah reviewed its voter rolls for noncitizens. It found one. Who never voted The results sharply undercut the narrative of widespread noncitizen voting Republicans are using to promote new nationwide restrictions on voting.

A must read๐Ÿ‘‡

After a sweeping, Republican-led review of more than 2 million voter registrations, Utah election officials identified just one apparent noncitizen in their voter rolls โ€” who never voted. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Whistleblowers just shared a memo showing DHS instructing ICE to force their way into peoples' houses without a proper warrant. Why is this not on all the networks right now? This is a criminal conspiracy to violate rights under color of law.

Teslaโ€™s profit fell 37% in the third quarter. It's been in the process of laying off 14,000 workers. It had more cars impacted by recalls than any other brand in 2024.

Yet Elon Musk just got a pay package worth $1 trillion.

American capitalism is off the rails.

This has not gotten much attention, but it should.

Virginia under Youngkin returned to an insanely harsh system where people convicted of any felony lose their voting rights FOR LIFE.

Dems' win this week mean they'll get to advance a constitutional amendment to end lifetime disenfranchisement.

The Mariners sometimes go into tailspins when youโ€™d be convinced they were the worst team in AAA. Despite my Aqua-blue colored glasses, I think a short series will reveal very little about which team is actually better.

Sentimental Choice the Mariners will not make: all the laid-off Root Sports employees.

A record 29% โ€” nearly a third! โ€” of all new cars purchased in California during July, August, and September were zero-emission vehicles.

DC may be fine with selling out American innovation to China, but California will keep charging ahead toward cleaner air for our communities.

CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow embodied what a journalist should be: someone who holds power to account instead of capitulating to it.

Over 70 years later, his segment denouncing Joe McCarthyโ€™s congressional witch hunts rings truer than ever.

Itโ€™s not either/or, ideally. Sports are dumb, but theyโ€™re fun. Seattle has amazing spec fiction and groundbreaking music all the time. Good baseball is more of a Halleyโ€™s Comet type experience.

Nor does my distress that so many folks I know, raised as I was on a steady diet of saying โ€œNever againโ€ to the horrors of genocide, were perfectly fine with it as long as the genocide was being carried out by Israel.
