RCM will have an MT-32 setup connected to our DOS Box before the year is out.
Until then, you can hear what you're (and we're) missing, courtesy of Ema Zamboni:

Amazing piece of Windows 3.1 software.
With uh... quirks.
The perfect DOS game music system.
(Sadly RCM is lacking the moolah to invest π )
Fun fact: You can do this with TZX files too.
The spec defines the byte sequence that starts a TZX file as a "continuation block", just so this can be done.
Several of the RCM volunteers feel attacked by this.

Much Archie love at RCM π
Not seeing much interaction on this, so reposting in case it was missed.
Tickets are now live for our summer legendary event, which this time includes a special auction.
Details on the website π₯³
I'm afraid pretty much all the RCM volunteers are shared in the view that the Amiga is the definitive and best edition ever.
20.05.2025 17:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Modern Vintage Gamer has put together an excellent video on one of our favourite games, Lemmings.

Featuring @mdf200.bsky.social 's original animation sheet that led to the infamous comment, "There's a game in that...."
Some of you may have received multiple confirmation emails for our legendary event.
We had a mailer configuration issue on the website which we believe is all sorted out now.
Sorry about that π
Special for this event is a few auctions for some special prizes.
Check the event page for more details!
This is a ticketed event, so make sure to book your tickets here:

It's back again for the summer!

If you've never been, here's what you can expect:

We have some old ICL drum memory and paper tape reader components at the museum, and dream of doing something cool with this one day.
So this achievement brought to you by Usagi Electric gets our warmest* approval :)
* by vacuum tube of course.

A retro CRT television displaying a BBC Ceefax teletext page with news headlines, sitting on a white table near a window. A blue teletext adapter box and a Toshiba remote control are also on the table.
I actually miss Teletext... It was like the world wide web before we had it.
THIS is how we got our news at any time we wanted.
It's fabulous you can actually get this working again with new content!
This was found set up at @retrocomputermuseum.co.uk
Anyone with a Raspberry Pi and a teletext TV can get this up and running. It's quite a clever system.
25.04.2025 07:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Pretty sure all the RCM staff would just stand staring in coveting jealousy at this.
24.04.2025 18:23 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dunno BUD, it looks like you're trying to ESCAPE. A BREAK seems a way off, but not long before a RETURN.
24.04.2025 18:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The module draws from the USB power. The jumper sets whether it uses the 5V direct, or regulates down to 3.3V.
So the VCC pin and all +ve levels are dictated by that jumper.
There are links inside the Einstein to change it from YUV to RGB output on the monitor socket.
I'm also led to believe some CUBs (possibly not all) have links internally to allow analogue input instead of TTL.

Due to a break in in the early hours of this morning, the main computer room and the shop are not available today.
We are waiting for the police to arrive and hope to open them later today.
Now this is a trio we can get behind.
We'd keep the Apple Quadra 660AV, as it's one of the best Old World Macs ever.
Gift the TI99/4A - Wonderful and under-appreciated machine.
The Amstrad PPC512? Bin it. Especially when the PPC640 is right there.
One of the best shoot-em-ups on the BBC Micro, and a regular occurrence at the Retro Computer Museum.
06.04.2025 16:18 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of the things that came to light when we were flooded out was the fragility of our outside "Yard" area, which is used for our legendary events and as a chill out/escape area at the weekends.
