Donald Trump hiring gun smuggling, violent human traffickers to act as prison guards at Alligator Alcatraz feels EXTREMELY on brand for him.

The contractors and companies helping build Alligator Alcatraz have tried to keep their involvement a secret.

I refuse to let that happen.

So here is Part 1 of my new series: Exposing the Assholes Who Helped Build Alligator Alcatraz

Not enough people are talking about the chilling subtext and imagery in the messages being sent by the official DHS accounts

This! We had a family last year who sent in everything on the supply list and an additional bag with a couple of items that their child wanted to keep personally… Not a problem!

Mine does the same, and I’m always torn about it… Great to have the extra time… Infuriating I should have to be in there on the weekend to do it!

Honestly? A lot of the kids do too. Clean, neat, and orderly is a whole lot more important.

There is a TikTok making the rounds of a woman crying after seeing her child's kindergarten classroom and finding it "underwhelming" and "not cute." I am married to a teacher who began his career teaching at the elementary level and I have a few things to say. 🧡

3. There is a teacher shortage. So chances are, if you have a sparsely decorated classroom, you got yourself a new teacher who is just scrambling to get everything ready. Rather than cry on social media about it, you could ask your child's teacher if they need anything!

Please don't get on TikTok crying about your child's "dull" classroom without offering assistance. Offer to be a room parent, clear a list, something. Most teachers aren't paid enough to create a Pinterest classroom and they shouldn't be expected to pay for it with their own money.

This conflation of rent stabilization, rent control, and affordable housing is galling enough before you remember that this fucking guy literally ran HUD

This exchange started over you having an attitude about the ACLU who you don’t think are working hard or fast enough because info is not hand delivered to you frequently enough. I’m sick of people who expect to be spoonfed everything. Honestly, they’ll fall for the bullshit propaganda, regardless.

PBS Passport for $60 a year and well worth it. As they say, defunded but not defeated. Please consider donating to your local PBS station. They need you!

To the teachers & staff at Clifton School - thank you.

Thank you for protecting our children -every day & especially Friday.

For immediately scooping them up & running inside when you heard gunshots.

For keeping them safe in the many (too many) hours during & after.

You are heroes. Thank you. πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

The black market trade in rhino horns is driving the species to near extinction. Now, scientists at a rhino orphanage in the Bushveld of South Africa are trying to protect them from poaching in a rather surprising way. @johnyangtv.bsky.social reports.

Education requires engagement. No amount of outreach will help if people aren’t attentive and able to think critically about the information presented. Blindly following the ones who yell the loudest is part of the reason we are in the mess we are in.

They also stopped recommending routine Covid vaccines for anyone under 18 that doesn’t have an underlying condition (whatever that means now) which means your doctor can still sign off on you getting it, but your insurance company is less likely to cover it 🀬 Schools will be a train wreck

I absolutely agree that we should be helping small local businesses… However, it’s naΓ―ve to think that ultimately the conglomerates don’t end up with a piece of the pie no matter what we as individuals do. It’s how they’ve structured the system.

If folks are going to scream blue no matter who, then it needs to be universal. Vote your conscience in the primaries then rally behind the winner in the general election…then push towards moving away from 2 parties, electoral college, gerrymandered districts, and corporate $ driving elections

Everything is interconnected. Local farmers buy equipment from large companies. Small businesses purchase supplies from conglomerates. Yes…support local folks! But understand the issue is to get corporate influence out of politics if any real change is to happen

10.08.2025 16:02 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There are a few large conglomerates that have their hands in nearly everything. It is virtually impossible to avoid them unless you go totally off grid and grow your own food from seeds you saved. We need to limit corporations ability to influence elections and go from there
