If I wanted to cherry pick, since instituting the current starting lineup Xavier ranks 50th in offensive efficiency. It’s only three games though.

Too close to UC for comfort. An embarrassing amount of Big East teams nearby too.

If you strip out the impact of preseason projections, UC ranks 316th in offensive efficiency, second to last among high major schools. Seems bad.

Like I said, I have no idea how the Pitino hire will ultimately shake out, but this comparison you’re trying to make it just not apples to apples.

1. Drake is two hours from Iowa. New Mexico is nowhere near Cincinnati. Very different dynamic right off the bat.
2. Three of NM’s top five contributors last year were seniors.
3. I’m sure Xavier would love to have Dent, but he went back home to UCLA for like $3mm.

I mean, one was able to bring a ton of players with him, including Bennett Stirtz. The other quite literally had to build an entire roster via the transfer portal.

I have no idea how Pitino will turn out for Xavier, but this is kind of an absurd take given the situations.

I absolutely cannot stop thinking about that Bengals defense players-only meeting. Wonder what they discussed to turn around and somehow give up even more points.

On the other end, I’ve got Butler, Creighton, Seton Hall, St John’s, and Villanova each with one returner in the starting lineup. And since Roddie sat out last year, Xavier has zero.

Marq has no transfers and no freshmen starting. Although Sean Jones was out last season, so let’s say four returners.

Then I’ve got DePaul, Georgetown, and UConn each with three returners in the starting lineup.

Researching for my Big East fantasy draft. Fun fact: of the 55 projected starters for the Big East this season, 30 are transfers.
