I feel like a lot of this is about evading censorship/demonetisation by algorithms; which basically just means that capitalism, unsurprisingly, is to blame.

My favourite little nice thing about Carter’s passing is that The New York Times interviewed him when he was getting older to release the interview as ‘The Last Word’, after he died.

The interview was in 2006.

Astounding longevity.

The issue is that we've constructed education systems that makes these mutually exclusive; no reason someone can't learn a trade at a school that also opens the horizons like College does; we do this with Medicine and Law (albiet at great expense).

Education should make us both wiser AND capable.

This is a discussion that purely happens in a solicited, contrarian manner: Saying 'Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie' is like saying 'I like Pumpkin Spice Lattes'. The other side exists, but purely because it feels like an intellectually defensible way to TELL SOMEONE THEY'RE WRONG.

The problem with marking pay is that I absolutely can mark one of these essays in 40 minutes or less, but I feel like the significant period of mental and emotional recovery/time spent making another coffee/staring in the mirror, wondering why I did this to myself needs factored in.
