Homeland security awarded $250,000 contract to Trump-aligned consulting firm Exclusive: DHS chose firm with ties to Corey Lewandowski after demanding partisan loyalty, in departure from federal procurement guidelines

DHS has awarded a $250,000 contract to American Made Media Company, managed by former Trump campaign officials, to provide “strategic counsel” to top officials.

AMMC will draft branch negotiations and secure preferred media outlets to cover Kristi Noem’s press conferences.

When asked about Citizens Bank's relationships with CoreCivic and GEO Group, a spokesperson said Citizens works with companies that "conduct their business in a lawful manner."

Not remotely surprised. GEO's argument that it should be exempt from even being sued just because it was carrying out a government contract was met with extreme skepticism at oral argument. The court ruled that "I was just doing what I was told to do" is a merits defense, not a bar to a lawsuit.

As ICE moves to massively expand immigration detention through the purchase of warehouses around the country, the best example of what these places might look like comes from Camp East Montana, which opened in August and now holds over 3,000 people per day in terrible conditions.

Every state and local jurisdiction should pass emergency public health legislation that would zone concentration camps out of existence. Tuberculosis and measles have already broken out at other camps. Make every state and local official take a stand on this issue.

Not a dig at any reporter at all, but I encourage outlets to use detention population numbers as reported by DetentionReports.com instead of those reported by ICE.

To be clear, the facility-by-facility detainee numbers that ICE releases are not erroneous, just misleadingly out of date.

I've done it too, and same. The only thing that seems to distinguish any of them from each other at this point is which marginalized group they most want target with their bigotry.

Very interesting. Texas has open primaries and I definitely know a few people who vote in the primary of a party they won't end up supporting in the general (especially when there's a high-profile race), but I have no idea how prevalent cross-party voting is.

Update: ICE Says It Won’t Purchase Warehouse Agency buying facilities across U.S. to house detainees

Multiple news sources reporting that ICE has abandoned plans to convert a former Pep Boys warehouse in Chester, NY into a detention warehouse. Councilperson Brian Maher confirmed the news in a news release Friday.
