In the German SPD before World War I Luxemburg and Liebknecht were revolutionary while Bernstein favored gradual reform.

In China Mao led the push for mass campaigns and constant class struggle while Liu and Deng focused on stabilizing the economy and consolidating gains.

Every political party or ideology has its own internal left and right wings. This doesn’t mean one side isn’t part of the same overall movement. For example in the Bolsheviks Trotsky and the Left Communists pushed for immediate revolution while Bukharin wanted a slower pragmatic approach using NEP
