The latest kimono is done! Is it Goth, Beetlejuice, or both?
I'm wearing it with a black obi, but red also looked quite good.
I can imagine if you want to lean into Beetlejuice or Halloween a green obi would work too.
@kimonoplus.bsky.social
I make plus size kimono, yukata, juban, and haori's. Currently not doing commissions.

Posts from there will be copied here, but I may forget to post here every once in a while. D:
08.07.2025 14:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Hey guys! While I love this platform, I just wanted to let you know that I am going to be posting more on Instagram and Threads.
I'm trying to get my name out there for the possibility of doing commissions next year, but no one I talk to uses BlueSky.
Last day of Pride Month and I realize I never shared this Yukata from last year. I divided the pieces up to look like a pan flag. When I finally start selling and doing commissions I plan on having a flag series.
I nearly died in that heat.
Worth.
Kimono+ is a safe space for EVERYONE! I will never stop fighting for you. You are loved!
29.06.2025 17:52 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's done! This is a comfortable kimono made from fabric imported from Japan.
The obi is not made by me, but I will be making more obis soon. Pink and red go best with this one.
I will be selling this one for $350.
The Lisa Frank obi is done in time for Pride Month!
Which obi do you like better?
Yellow or blue?
The sushi Yukata is finally finished. I'm wearing it with a red obi, but I think an orange one would look a little better.
This one will probably be on sale at next year's Cherry Blossom Festival.
I will never go back to pins. These clips hold the fabric in place so much better and smoother and they're far less likely to fall out nor will they hurt the fabric.
I can't believe I didn't buy these earlier.
More new fabric. A future goth kimono perhaps? I'm thinking with a skull or pure black obi.
20.05.2025 04:30 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Found an amazing website that sells fabric from Japan. I'm so excited to get started on these, but I have to finish another kimono I'm working on first.
16.05.2025 12:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm getting serious about becoming a vendor at the Fest next year. I just got in two beautiful pieces of fabric imported from Japan yesterday. Pictures will come later.
They're going to be sold at about $300 a piece.
I am also planning on making an Etsy store soon.
Finished my latest kimono AND made my first obi!
The two don't exactly go together, but I wanted to show them both off at the same time.
The black kimono will be done as soon as I have the energy to sit down and finish it. It just needs to be hemmed.
This one is going to look so cool.
I think my next project will be to finally finish fixing some of my kimonos that I took apart.
I wish I had a better eye for fashion.
I follow a few Japanese Instagram accounts who wear kimono modernly and sometimes my head explodes.
Like, how did you come up with this?
Of course none of them are plus sized so, maybe those styles won't work for me.
Almost finished! I haven't had time to work on it over the past couple of days. I'm sure I'll be able to finish it over the weekend. I can't wait to wear this one.
23.04.2025 13:00 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was working on a Flareon kimono, but have decided to set it to the side for a convention next year.
I decided to work on this cool fabric I found at Joanne's for cheap. I'm hoping to make the pattern seamless from front to back.
I posted the same Cherry Blossom update to both Threads and Instagram.
I have gotten so many responses. All bots.
This is why I usually only post here. There may be less engagement, but at least you're all actual people.
Went to the Cherry Blossom fest on Sat and it was amazing! Great seeing @kimono.bsky.social They were the only ones selling kimono accessories!
My own Yukata was a huge hit and I even spoke Japanese (very terribly) to a woman.
I think this may have been the best Cherry Blossom fest I have been to.
The initial obi I wanted to use for this Yukata didn't end up working out, but I think I found a good combo with this orange one I bought more recently.
I really need solid color obis! Hoping to find some at the festival.
Finished with plenty of time for the Cherry Blossom Festival.
It was surprisingly easy. Am I finally mastering collars???
A citrus kimono I plan on wearing at the Cherry Blossom Festival. Hoping to finish it today.
22.03.2025 21:14 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh my god am I going to be forced to get fabric from Hobby Lobby? The idea makes me sick.
11.03.2025 15:39 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0After that? I don't know. I'll get Japanese bolts now and again if I find them for a good price. Expect the kimono updates to become increasingly rare after May.
11.03.2025 15:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can't afford to continue this unless someone else steps up in Joanne's place. I'm honestly glad I never fully started taking commissions. Can you imagine how much I would have to charge with these prices??
I have bought two new pieces of fabric and will get whatever else I can before they close.
With Joanne's closing, it appears that I'm royally fucked in terms of making new kimonos. The fabric has always been pricy since I need one continuous piece and 6yrds at the minimum. With Joanne's I normally spent around $35-$50 (For cotton) with coupons. Online? $80. Minimum.
11.03.2025 15:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Joanne's is going out of business.
This is seriously bad for me.
I improved with each project, but I still have a long way to go. Hopefully I can get a new sewing machine and make even more professional looking pieces. Here's a pic of the fireworks Yukata, since I never uploaded it here.
16.12.2024 17:30 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This was a busy year for me in regards to making kimonos. This year I made:
A white kimono
Gray (and lined!)
Green flowers (also lined!)
Firework yukata
Luigi yukata
Pan pride Yukata
And my best work, the michiyuki jacket.
My sewing machine may have bit the dust.
That's a problem.
A huge problem.
