Would love to see a proven, maybe rugged midfielder get the last roster spot. Not a lot of depth there, especially if Manaka plays the false 9 to keep Sanchez on the field.

Does she merit a spot in the Ring of Honor? That's a tough call. She was an incredible player for NC, the missing piece who propelled them to dominate the league for two years. But she played for only two seasons. I don't really know.

I don't think her exits from NWSL teams tarnish her legacy.

That said, it's funny (to me) that her least messy exit was forcing a trade from the Courage to their arch-enemy.

I didn't watch NWSL when she was at the Spirit, but in 2018-2019, she was undoubtedly the best U.S. player for club and country. She never really hit that form again despite some big moments for the Thorns.

Should have won the Golden Ball at the 2019 World Cup. She was far and away the best player for the U.S. in that tournament.

Courage are now at 9 forwards. Two remaining roster spots, and we need a body each at defensive mid and center back.

I suspect we're saying goodbye to the last OG Meredith Speck and to Tyler Lussi.

Still no coach, but Bowley deserves credit for greatly improving the forward line.

Last year, the wingers were so unproductive that Nahas had to change the formation to eliminate them. (To be fair, Thackeray brought them back with some success after Linehan arrived.)

That said, this is an amazing bit of business by the Courage. We net, I believe, around $850,000 in this sale. We need two elite wingers for next season.

As I have said before, the perfect player for this team is Gio Queiroz. We need someone of that skill set, pace, and caliber.

First, hindsight is 20/20, but it was a mistake to buy Shaw. Not because she isn’t an elite talent. She is. But because of the opportunity cost. We had enough really strong 10s. We needed strong wingers. Instead, we invested in yet another 10. One who couldn’t unseat Manaka or Sanchez.

Hopefully, we'll get a chance to see her next season.

But she's out of contract, and it would not be a huge surprise to see her sign with the new hometown team in Boston.
