LEYTON & LEYTONSTONE HISTORICAL SOCIETY ILLUSTRATED TALK
by
RENSKE MANN
author and art lover aka'THE GIRL IN THE GREEN JUMPER'
WEDNESDAY 16 JULY 2025 at 7.45pm
(Doors open for teas and coffees at 7.15pm)
St John's Church Hall Kirkdale Road (opposite Aldi) London E11 THH Entry Β£2
Renske will tell of a different world, living in Walthamstow and Leyton in the 1960s and 70s.
Renske met Cyril Mann (1911-1980) a week before Christmas 1959, when she had just turned twenty and he was nudging fifty. Convinced of his genius, she offered to become his muse and model promising to give him the financial support he needed to give up teaching and concentrate on painting full time. It was no one-way street! Cyril encouraged and educated Renske. They had not expected the level of local support, affection and inspiration on their doorstep.
