My concern is the empty chimney hole with the roofing missing around it and further down with the wet stain. I'd fear a rotten roof, weakened floor and embedded mold. They painted it to look crisp and clean but it might be a tear down. Still, if she owns the property that's a great deal.

You usually only find sea urchins, especially ones this big, way down on a minus tide. But this one got knocked loose from the bottom and the tide floated it to the surface. It's about the size of a coconut.

A pencil #drawing of an orange that looks so realistic, you might think it’s about to roll off the page!

I wish I could do alt text. My signal barely goes through (after multiple tries) with regular text + photo. It's a wonderful element of Bluesky. I'll keep trying.

The State of the Picture Book Market
YouTube video by BookEnds Literary Agency The State of the Picture Book Market

The bad news: The Covid picture book bubble has burst. It's harder to get author-only picture books agented. The good news: Author-illustrators are still in demand. It's hard to find illustrators so anyone who does both has a "lighter" path to publication. #WritingCommunity youtu.be/vv1CKCpRVQw?...

I'm sure I will, I love British cozies. The ex-nun investigator makes it intriguing.

Excellent review (thanks for the heads up that Agatha Raisin fans will like it). Note to self: get this book.

I love finding beach glass, especially the rare colors. My dog got jealous, though.

Probably a Bibleforscher, or Bible Student (Jehovah's Witness). The Smithsonian Holocaust Museum has a floor devoted to them. They were executed & put in concentration camps for refusing to join the Nazi military or make the salute.

It's not generally remembered except by people who went to school in Alaska, but the U.S. did fight a battle on American land: Battle of the Aleutian Islands.

I don't know if they do. I got Internet in 2015, but it's always been pretty sketchy and I can't do much online that requires a lot of security, like online banking and government websites.

That's wonderful. I felt so awful for those poor people. Our mail is carried by float planes and is held up by the weather so there was no way to get their checks to them promptly.

I work at a rural post office, mail 2x monthly. A neighboring town's mail accidentally ended up at my P.O. including nearly 20 social security checks. Those poor folks had to wait 2 weeks before they got them. Apparently some rural, elderly folks don't know how to set up direct deposit.
