For the last 6 weeks I've been hyper-focused on writing a book. I didn't give myself time to try and perfect the book or tone down the vocabulary. I just wanted to convey my passion to liberate creatives from the rules that weren't written for minds and bodies like ours. amzn.to/3RkwZiE

As someone who wrote her first two books about a doctor set in the 1920s I did extensive research into what was taught 1895 through 1930. And I learned a great deal about eugenics and about what they considered inherited disease. It's shocking the talking points are the same 100 years later.

My ADHD and likely autism didn't disable me. I used to work very physical and mentally difficult jobs. It was chronic migraines and an autoimmune disorder that made me unable to work outside the home.

I've created space in my week to grieve. Lighting a candle, I journal about those lost to tragedies, war, natural disasters, gun violence... I mourn with those who've lost loved ones, pets, homes, health... This allows me to process instead of holding onto unresolved bitterness so I can take action.

One way we create a more beautiful world is to stop engaging and sharing the misinformation.

This full moon, I'm exploring what it would mean to live a wildly beautiful life. To be my wild & beautiful, neurodivergent self. To write the wild & beautiful stories that live in my head. To surround myself with people who want to create a wild & beautiful world together.

My new year begins at Advent. One thing I do just before is take my core values-Authentic Beauty, Creative Curiosity, Meaningful Work, Intimate Belonging, and Liberating Love-and evaluate my relationships, commitments, and interests. I look for what I need to let go of, and what I need more of.

This is on my to reread list as we head into another four years of hearing continual gaslighting. The nervous system requires grounding and that starts with knowing our core values. So I am picking a book for each one of mine. The first is liberating love. IMAGE bell hooks book all about love

I have faced fascism before, in this very country. I was one of 120,000 Japanese Americans summarily rounded up and expelled from our homes at gunpoint, all for the crime of looking like the people who bombed Pearl Harbor.

I don't get how people get to the polls, vote, and then change their minds. I mean did they just start watching TV/social media AFTER the election?

Glad so many people are finally making the switch. May we build safe space to breathe, collaborate, and create the world we really want to live in.

I feel the same about the public availability of the 911 calls from the Maui fire. People's last desperate moments should be available to family and legal attorneys only. If families want those released that's their choice.

Learning my core values helped me define myself as an author. I seek authentic beauty, intimate belonging, creative curiosity, and embodied intentionality in all I do. Together they allow me to do the meaningful work of leaving the world more beautiful than I found it through story.
