I sort of get why, but it's strange she's not had a push in so long.

I literally went to make instant noodles as #BloodAndGuts started, I have returned 5 minutes later and Skye Blue already looks like she's been in a car crash.

Companies needing to push these things out for balance sheets before they're finished doesn't really help anybody. The team still have to update and patch what's broken after the fact, and most people nowadays know it's a turkey and avoid it til it's fixed or, in some cases, don't care & buy anyway.

My point being, I'm sure lots of people would settle for lower quality mid PS3 era quality games if it meant we got more of them & they ran smoother rather than being a mess a la (say) MGS Delta or delayed and taking 13 years to develop.

It's really clear with crunch, budgets & the drive to always be using the latest tech that optimisation is thrown overboard by most studios, so why not fall back on lower quality assets if it means you can focus on a better gameplay experience & the title runs better as a consequence?

I realise this is entirely antithetical to what you're saying and the point you're making, but I do often have to ask, is it such a crime that textures need to be *so* good?

Lots of titles through 2007ish look fine & perfectly readable today whilst being scalable & cleaning up well.
