I'm enough of a bitch to admit there's some schadenfreude in F1 fans finding out all over again that the rules pushed for by the drivers they deify are Really Bad, Actually

The rules are the rules and until the drivers (who, if you need a reminder, were largely in favour of these rules) make enough of a stink about how shit they are, it's pretty likely we'll just have to live with it.

I think these rules are garbage but I also get that Piastri was in the wrong here. In this case it's cathartic because I'm a Merc/Ferrari girl.

it genuinely boggles my mind that people who *know* what this year's racing rules are like can look at this incident and go ''yep, Piastri was hard done by here'', but then people also thought he was hard done by in Silverstone somehow

piastri didn't have a front wheel alongside antonelli's wing mirror until he locked up. it's as slam dunk as it gets

you could argue turning in on some dweeb divebombing you isn't a winning move by Antonelli, and you'd probably be right, but that doesn't matter by the letter of the law. it's a very clear cut penalty

but even if you concede he locked up because he was braking to avoid a crash, he simply wasn't far enough alongside Antonelli to be entitled to any space there and the stewards' document mentions this outright

the stewards view a lock-up as the driver not being in control of their car by default, and have done so for many years (at least since the start of the V6 era, possibly longer). the rest of the book went out of the window the moment Piastri locked up

absolutely astounding that people think the Piastri penalty is ''harsh'', but then Piastri might be the single most coddled driver in the wider F1 fanbase

Long way to go on the painting journey but I'm enjoying it a lot and I haven't enjoyed arts & crafts adjacent stuff in over a decade

I tried some things recommended to me by some very kind people in the Battletech community, like using some blended colours as a glaze for the cockpit and pinwashing to avoid getting wash stains. I did go for wash stains on the feet because it makes them look muddy, and it IS a war machine

On a better subject than that, I painted another miniature today. I paint with dyspraxia, hypermobility of my fingers and no meaningful depth perception up close, and this is my third ever miniature. I'm really proud of how it turned out.
