looking at this like, "I painted this? With *my* fucked up fingers?"
13.11.2025 11:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0tried contrast paints and some other tips and tricks from some really lovely folks. really happy with how it turned out, and glad i didn't totally fuck up one of my fave assault mechs!

shock horror: sometimes it really is better to leave making the rules to the people who have been making the rules for a few decades now
shock horror #2: racing drivers are selfish
I'm enough of a bitch to admit there's some schadenfreude in F1 fans finding out all over again that the rules pushed for by the drivers they deify are Really Bad, Actually
10.11.2025 15:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1The rules are the rules and until the drivers (who, if you need a reminder, were largely in favour of these rules) make enough of a stink about how shit they are, it's pretty likely we'll just have to live with it.
09.11.2025 20:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0that last sentence is absolutely mint - ''there IS a difference between not liking a rule and not following it''
I think these rules are garbage but I also get that Piastri was in the wrong here. In this case it's cathartic because I'm a Merc/Ferrari girl.
my guy's been on the other side plenty.
really feeds the desperation narrative, and I don't buy the forced iceman persona enough to believe that some part of Piastri wasn't thinking about the title race when this went down. If he's still 25 points ahead I don't think he's trying this one, ever
09.11.2025 19:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0it genuinely boggles my mind that people who *know* what this year's racing rules are like can look at this incident and go ''yep, Piastri was hard done by here'', but then people also thought he was hard done by in Silverstone somehow
09.11.2025 19:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0are these rules dogshit? yeah. were they correctly applied in this case? also yeah
09.11.2025 19:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0and some receipts, just for fun
piastri didn't have a front wheel alongside antonelli's wing mirror until he locked up. it's as slam dunk as it gets
you could argue turning in on some dweeb divebombing you isn't a winning move by Antonelli, and you'd probably be right, but that doesn't matter by the letter of the law. it's a very clear cut penalty
09.11.2025 19:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0but even if you concede he locked up because he was braking to avoid a crash, he simply wasn't far enough alongside Antonelli to be entitled to any space there and the stewards' document mentions this outright
09.11.2025 19:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0the stewards view a lock-up as the driver not being in control of their car by default, and have done so for many years (at least since the start of the V6 era, possibly longer). the rest of the book went out of the window the moment Piastri locked up
09.11.2025 19:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1absolutely astounding that people think the Piastri penalty is ''harsh'', but then Piastri might be the single most coddled driver in the wider F1 fanbase
09.11.2025 19:18 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1That race was pretty good. Oscar Piastri is a jabroni.
09.11.2025 18:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0the soft looks pretty booty cheeks, honestly, so I don't think this one's done yet
09.11.2025 18:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0fuck op81
that's all I'll say
Long way to go on the painting journey but I'm enjoying it a lot and I haven't enjoyed arts & crafts adjacent stuff in over a decade
08.11.2025 19:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I tried some things recommended to me by some very kind people in the Battletech community, like using some blended colours as a glaze for the cockpit and pinwashing to avoid getting wash stains. I did go for wash stains on the feet because it makes them look muddy, and it IS a war machine
08.11.2025 19:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On a better subject than that, I painted another miniature today. I paint with dyspraxia, hypermobility of my fingers and no meaningful depth perception up close, and this is my third ever miniature. I'm really proud of how it turned out.

you ever just have something totally shitfuck your day, and you can't be mad about it because that person really didn't mean to shitfuck your day?
08.11.2025 19:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0(ps: if you're reading this, I probably don't find your opinions annoying. there's just certain people on here who do have very reddit-tier opinions, and I mean that in a completely derogatory way. I like griping about it.)
08.11.2025 19:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0another greatest hit from the top minds of reddit: why doesn't F1 do yellow flags like Indycar does?
Let's ask Marcus Ericsson about that one!
like the man himself has been very open and honest about his quali pace having dropped off since last year when he was still driving for Mercedes, it's the unfortunate reality of 2025-spec Hamilton
08.11.2025 19:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0everything for that reddit karma though
08.11.2025 19:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0''ferrari bad'' is a really boring, clapped out narrative when Hamilton's teammate is sticking that car on the second row btw
08.11.2025 19:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1My only consolation is that Piastri's revival may have been greatly exaggerated.
08.11.2025 18:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Spin the bottle and find out which Williams driver gets fucked over by the team's shitty tyre prep this week!
07.11.2025 18:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There's really no reason Piastri should be closer to Russell than to his teammate on *this* track, in *that* car. I think people were getting far too excited after FP1
07.11.2025 18:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0*PLEASE he's actively drained my brain cells i can no longer type
