Quakers first British church to state belief that genocide underway in Gaza At their annual gathering this weekend, Quakers in Britain became the first British church to state their belief that the Israeli government is committing genocide in Gaza.

It took the Quakers this long to finally come up with this, and they are still the first among the Churches. Munther Isaac has a lot to say about the Churches’ cowardice in Christ in the Rubble. There is no Christian theology that can possibly justify genocide.

We went to a town hall in our library this past weekend & my local legislators said that libraries are overfunded. They went on to say that our Libraries have too much money & we should use their money to fund our school. There were audible gasps. This is ignorance- Libraries are so important!!

SCIENCE IS SCREAMING. No One is Listening. I’ve stood on the edge, more than once, since climate chaos roared into my world and destroyed everything. Believe me, you don’t want this trauma. I am saying this out loud, not for pity, but to deman...

The USA has a hard fascist right wing, a center right liberal wing, a center left progressive wing. What Americans call β€œprogressive” is laughed at around the world, for it is so relatively centrist and reasonable. Wanting healthcare for all is not an extreme position. It is basic sanity.

Time zones are fascinating. Australia is already in 2025, Europe is still 2024, and the USA is currently in 1939.

I hope it doesn’t take long for for the media to ask new Victorian Opposition leader what he thinks of Peter Dutton’s plans to build nuclear power stations in Victoria…that should kill off their bromance pretty quickly…or their electoral prospects…maybe both

The term that you're looking for to accurately describe this situation, is slavery.

For the longest time, the easiest way to trigger Trump and MAGA was to question his self-reported crowd sizes.

Now all you have to do is say β€˜President Musk.’

Voters blame one man for rising energy bills while companies get away with gouging We’ve been told the recent leap in power prices has been caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But that’s a tiny part of the story.

About 35% of household electricity bills go to the profits of the big energy companies - the so called National Electricity Market, which is more bureaucratic rule book than β€˜market’, has failed consumers and helped push up inflation…don’t tell the RBA www.smh.com.au/business/the...

WA's gas and electricity prices have tripled since 2020, after the WA Gov let Woodside export domestic gas reserves.

Now Woodside want a 50 year extension for their North West Shelf export terminal.

If it's approved, it will lock in higher prices for decades.

New polling reveals overwhelming opposition to rushing through political donation laws New polling by The Australia Institute reveals more than four out of five voters believe proposed changes to Australian electoral laws should be reviewed before they are introduced to parliament.

Full details on our website: australiainstitute.org.au/post/new-pol...

Relevant today as the Albanese Government proposes rushing through a big increase in public spending on political parties; limits on spending and donations that will hurt new entrants more than existing players.

Please support bookshops.

Independent bookshops.

They are so wonderful. Yes you pay a little more.

But I think of it as paying for the experience.

The experience of browsing.

And that oh-so-important bookshop smell. πŸ––
