Yesterday, @ofgulban.bsky.social gave a great talk about efficient imaging of small veins.
It was inspiring. Impressive how much information is there waiting to be harvested.

Maybe this one fits best here on the topic of bing noisy.
Thanks. I am glad we agree that the replication discussion was not about VASO then.
Kenshu Koiso (movies + newly faces/places), Insub Kim (orientation), Daniel Haenelt (ODC) compared MVPA across contrasts. Their results agree with you on vein effects in MVPA BOLD.
No π left, DM 4 π.
Fully agree. There was a slide on one of the layer-fMRI educationals at OHBM trying to get an overview of the layer field.
Attention (or what people call it to be) seems to be the least reproducible effect in the field.
It's not so easy.
It depends, if reduced sensitivity is coming from removing fasle-positive vein signals. VASOs sensitivity to micro vessels is not bad and often used for MVPA
Wasn't the replication issue in that study discussed wrt segmentation issues. If at all, VASO's T1 contrast helps with that
Hence use VASO :-)

30.08.2025 11:06 β π 16 π 7 π¬ 2 π 0Happy to see this out: our new preprint shows that laminar GE-BOLD fMRI decoding isnβt immune to vascular draining biases. Simulations reveal false positives due to multivariate signal spread across layers, but oversampling + deconvolution can (sometimes) improve specificity.
