Yeah, treading water is right. The biggest thing for me is playing players out of position for no real reason. It'd be one thing if he was trying to fit square pegs in round holes for his tactics, but his tactics aren't anything special either

I don't want to blame Arsenal's goal on the decision to sub in Ayari for Kostoulas, but it definitely didn't help. Really frustrating to see Hurzeler taking his foot off the gas to start the second half

I think the idea is to give De Cuyper more support. That’s what doesn’t make sense to me. Gomez hasn’t helped out much so far and he didn’t really the last time he played on the left against Newcastle. Gomez likes to drift centrally, which makes De Cuyper more vulnerable imo

Fabian Hurzeler knows more about football than me, but his selection choices really confuse me at times. Ayari for Kostoulas feels completely unnecessary, especially since it moves Gomez to the left wing

Van Hecke and Boscagli's movement in this match feels like the first time we've actually seen Brighton's center-backs play like Hurzeler's did at St. Pauli

I expected it to be a back three with Van Hecke on the right, Coppola in the middle, and Boscagli on the right. Looks like a back four with Coppola at right-back now. Could be a three though. Either way, seems a bit strange
