Young players indeed bring a needed. vitality. As much as Alonso and Soto have contributed offensively, and as hard as Alonso has worked to improve his defense, they are both liabilities in the field. Neither (assuming Alonso returns) will likely become a DH, so those are built-in weaknesses.

Mendoza is not to blame. He did not go from being a good manager to being a bad one. There were two giant holes in the #Mets roster this year: starting pitchers and CF. Neither was patched at the trade deadline. Stearns will not be fired either, but I hope he’s learned some lessons.

Yeah, we all are.

The #Mets can’t afford to retaliate for Alvarez being hit by a pitch. A suspension of the Mets pitcher would likely be the result.

I’m kind of old fashioned in that I think a team records over a full season demonstrate which teams are deserving of championships. But I understand the economics and the current structure, so if the #Mets get into the tournament, as a fan, of course, I want them to win it all.
