Lindz McLeod launches The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet | Events at Waterstones Bookshops | Waterstones Events at Waterstones get you closer to the books and authors you admire most. Find information and tickets about Lindz McLeod launches The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet today.

I was just told that my launch event in Glasgow was going to be cancelled because I don't have *enough* tickets sold. Humiliating—not least because I worked my butt off for this book & went to other people's launches.

If I could sell a few more today, maybe I could change their minds. Please.

Definitely a good excuse for a night out. I think it’s the first time I’ve been invited for anything writer related so would have loved to be there but it’s a long way for me. No expectations here either. Just feels lovely to have got this far!

Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger Eminent American film-maker Martin Scorsese shares his lifelong love affair with the films of Powell and Pressburger.

this is a must-watch if you love Scorsese or want to know about film-making.

(also if you love Powell and Pressburger, but actually the most gripping bits are where Scorsese shows specific shots he was inspired by in P&P films next to his own films)

It’s the time of year for mentioning one of my favourite ‘untranslatables’.

‘Poronkusema’, in Finnish, once denoted a distance of around 7.5km, which is roughly how long a reindeer can last before needing to urinate. ‘Poronkusema’ means ‘reindeer pee’.
