If they can make it a standard across to replace NI numbers, driving licences etc, and give people a physical option then imo the amount of opposition will decrease significantly and I'd be all for it

Not too fond of it being digital only though a) imo it's too early to force this for older generations and b) there's every chance it'll be used for simplifying surveillance, which isn't doing them any favours in the public image especially with the OSA earlier this year

Though framing it as a thing to stop the boats isn't gonna rally the left on the idea and the right are just against it based on principles despite the govt pandering to that demographic specifically.

They're literally shooting themselves in the foot here for what is a decent idea.

Generally in favour of a national ID system, but don't like how it's being framed & implemented by the govt.

Having a *free*, standard and wildly available ID is a generally good thing *especially* if they're insisting on keeping ID requirements for voting.
