🚨BREAKING: Cal State LA just moved classes online and let faculty work remotely, not for a storm, not for COVID, but because ICE is in the area.

Opinion: Alberta's plan to limit free COVID vaccines makes no sense Alberta's decision not to pay for most COVID shots makes no sense, on any level, nor do the arguments used to try to justify the policy.

My colleague and current boss, Professor @jefferyjohnson.bsky.social has some choice words regarding Alberta's plan to stop paying for COVID vaccinations.

"Unbelievable. Mind-boggling. Stunningly stupid."

We should remove, not create, barriers to COVID-19 vaccination. Alberta government is making some misguided and misinformed decisions for public health. My commentary here:

1) How many ppl are living w/ substance use disorder in Alberta?

2) Of those ppl, how many attended treatment (detox, residential, medication) last year?

3) How many ppl completed treatment (or were retained in care) last year?

Do cold-water plunges really speed post-workout muscle recovery? A new study is among the first to look at whether cold or hot soaks help women’s muscles rebound from extreme exercise.

Reality: little more than placebo theatre.

U.S. attorney demands scientific journal explain how it ensures 'viewpoint diversity' The unusual letter caught the attention of First Amendment groups and some scientists, who raised concerns it was designed to suppress academic and scientific freedom.

Such a dangerous idea.

Forced β€œtreatment” is incarceration of people who have not been convicted of a crime for the benefit of private recovery businesses making money from government contracts. Like other private detainment situations, the people are the commodity from which they make money. It is not effective or care.
