If you’re wondering why this siege mentality hasn’t softened, it may be because the condescension and antagonism persist — especially among progressive elites whose statements are often conflated with the Democratic Party.

July alone offered a plethora of examples. And lest you think this is from the fever swamps of the internet, consider a few selections from The New York Times.

First, we got “The Boy Crisis Is Overblown,” which shrugs off boys’ educational struggles, instead suggesting that boys expect others (women) to pick up the slack, both at home and in school. Then came “The Trouble With Wanting Men,” a literary master class on how dating men amounts to unpaid emotional labor. And to round it out, “Why Women Are Weary of ‘Mankeeping,’” which blames men for … being human? Having different priorities than their girlfriends and wives?

See a pattern?

Add "lack of reading comprehension" to the reasons women find men exhausting and not worth it

yes, this man is in fact accusing "the left" (liberal women) of "harping on men" when they bring up the concept of emotional labor

On a smoky day, when AQI levels reach 100 to 200, "the exposure to the fine particulate matter, the air pollution, is similar to smoking a quarter to half a pack a day," May-Lin Wilgus, a pulmonologist and professor at UCLA, says.

"Your job in this class is to become a better reader, writer, and thinker. Look around these days. We need more of you! To do this, you’re going to have to read, write, think, and talk . . . a lot. And my job in this class is to provide you with the information, support, and feedback to help you meet that goal. And guess what else? Writing is one of the most deeply human things you can do. It’s meaningful. It matters. I care less about your writing being “perfect” than about it coming from you, with your voice, using evidence you find compelling.

Because of all this, the use of any AI tool (including Grammarly, sorry!) to produce any written work in this class is not permitted and will result in a score of 0 on the assignment.

Here’s the deal: AI doesn’t generate. It doesn’t build. It doesn’t edify what we’re out here doing as human beings. It scrapes together what’s already there and pulls it together in a boring and formulaic way. It steals ideas, art, and phrases from real human people without proper citation. It outsources thinking and pollutes our planet. So we’re just not going to use it.

I know this sounds a little scary, but this policy should encourage you to be the vibrant, curious, and badass thinker I absolutely know you are."

The language Hochul, Pritzker, and Newsom have been using is what we need. All democratic governors should follow their leads. You cannot pussyfoot around fascism. It has to be met, ridiculed, outflanked, and destroyed.

3 things that are proven to make society better
1) running frequent bus service
2) helping people get stable housing that they consent to living in
3) giving people some consistent amount of money each month

I mean really what we are seeing is people feeling comfortable revealing in various ways that they agree with the authoritarian white supremacists on at least one thing: 2020 anti-racism went too far and so did trans positive feminism

Hence the “stop overreacting” and bizarre nostalgia for the 90s

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants.

Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this.

Do not.

I am baffled by the Washington Post's sanitized framing of this story. The Supreme Court is clearly going to "rule on the law" -- that is what courts do! The news is that SCOTUS signaled that it might gut the VRA entirely.

Compare WaPo and Democracy Docket's headlines. Which source do you trust?

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced today that it will begin an orderly wind-down of its operations following the passage of a federal rescissions package and the release of the Senate Appropriations Committee’s FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-H) appropriations bill, which excludes funding for CPB for the first time in more than five decades.

For nearly 60 years, CPB has carried out its Congressional mission to build and sustain a trusted public media system that informs, educates, and serves communities across the country. Through partnerships with local stations and producers, CPB has supported educational content, locally relevant journalism, emergency communications, cultural programming, and essential services for Americans in every community.

“Despite the extraordinary efforts of millions of Americans who called, wrote, and petitioned Congress to preserve federal funding for CPB, we now face the difficult reality of closing our operations,” said CPB President and CEO Patricia Harrison. “CPB remains committed to fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities and supporting our partners through this transition with transparency and care.”

News article titled "Trump orders firing of BLS commissioner, after large summer revision" by Andrew Ackerman. It reports that President Donald Trump ordered the firing of Erika McEntarfer, head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, after the agency released major downward revisions to May and June jobs data. Trump announced the decision on social media, stating she would be replaced with someone "much more competent and qualified." The revisions removed 258,000 jobs from earlier counts, marking the largest two-month downward adjustment since the pandemic.

Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor statisti s. This is the end of being able to trust the data from the federal government on employment, GDP, or any other critical information. They will only want to produce information that pleases Trump, not the truth. This is how you get a failed state.
