Love to the hundreds of Manchester queer and trans folk and allies that showed up yesterday and/or today. No time now for backing off - in every community and every workplace we will continue to demand justice, until the institutions that have so dramatically failed us and our kin change course. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

It seems that there are two protests in Manchester this weekend. The one below appears to have stronger links to established trans communities in Manchester than the one I posted yesterday. Take care whenever and however you take action - let’s all look out for each other out there!

Completely understandable position and I agree in many cases. I’m not sure that’s fully fair in the case of UCU though - we’ve been at the forefront of advocating for issues affecting trans people within the trade union movement and beyond for well over a decade.

Fair call Sil. I’m a member of UCU though - we’re not affiliated with Labour and don’t sponsor MPs in the way that some other unions may do.

I’ve been UCU’s LGBT+ rep for HE on our national exec for the last two years, during which Tilly has been a huge asset to our LGBT+ work as a highly active committee member and anti-casualisation advocate. I can’t think of anyone better to replace me in the role! Please do vote for her.

I vibrated in a perfect (sad) harmony with this piece, it says everything I want to say. In particular, the (to me) absolutely BEYOND IT idea that a university can not teach history, and somehow still call itself a university. How far have we fallen to even be able to think that.
