Presumably a practice piece, you can almost hear the student admitting to his teacher that he hadn't quite left enough space for the tail. I'd say he likely passed the test - the replication is excellent, though not exact - r-hand chick's feet feel v slightly longer, facial markings vary in shape 1/

While fragmentary, frescos show decorated hulls & prows with things on them: actual objects, or just symbolic images?

The image prominently features a bumblebee foraging on a vibrant blue cornflower set against a softly blurred green background.
Central Subject:
A large, fuzzy bumblebee with distinct black and yellow stripes on its body is positioned on the rightmost blue flower, with its head and front legs deep within the flower's center, suggesting it is collecting nectar or pollen.
Flowers:
Two bright blue, multi-petaled flowers are visible in the foreground. The flower on the right is partially obscured by the bee, while the one on the left is fully visible, showcasing its intricate petal structure and a hint of purple in its center. Both flowers appear to be in full bloom.
Background:
The background is out of focus, consisting of muted green tones, likely representing foliage or grass, with several reddish-brown flower buds scattered throughout, indicating more blooms are yet to open.
Lighting and Composition:
The lighting appears natural, highlighting the bee and the flowers, making them stand out against the softer background. The composition focuses attention directly on the interaction between the bee and the flower.

Cornflower & buff-tailed bumblebee, grateful for each other.

🚩Old Alberta coal mines are polluting rivers and endangering wildlife, says a new study by government scientists.
The study is "a warning flag" for future coal projects in the province, says a former Alberta government scientist in charge of environmental monitoring.
