I have a personal experience somewhat similar.
I once had a bunch of mad hornets build a nest under the eaves of my outbuilding. When I approached with aggression, they got madder and more aggressive. I let them be mad and buzz around and carried on with my day.

At least he doesn't hide his disdain for us. It comes across as if he believes we are vermin.
I would hate liking a person and then having the rug pulled out from under us.

Thanks for doing that, my wife and I got ours recently, similar experience, not wanting to be "spreaders" or be spread upon.
After years of traveling for work in busses and on planes then being in a large office building, never getting shots, I am now amazed how good it feels to always feel good.
